Artist

I took my first serious sculpture class in Montana in 1985 and I was hooked immediately. It has been a slow wandering
trail of production and pauses. My late husband had moved me to Montana in the early 80's and I thought I would never get used to the lack of trees on the prairie, however I acquired a deep appreciation of the 'big sky' and the influence of the animals and birds as much as he did. On a deeper spiritual level I was beginning to be very aware of earlier peoples that left a huge imprint upon the land. I had begun creating masks in Eugene, Oregon however the faces began to take on a different look that reflected the "feel" of Montana. And today using that increased sensitivity I find 'faces' in Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming and Idaho. The Masks have become 'pure fun' and the bronze work offers more variety of expression and texture to my work. In the last year I have relocated and remarried and have decided to change my artist name also, from D Sheppard Standley to Deana Sue Wagner to reflect the support and inspiration of my new life and love.

Husband

Robert Wagner and I got married in 2006 and joined our experiences of many. Since our marriage we joined a Cowboy Fast Draw Club and have had a lot of fun. www.cowboyfastdraw.com if you want to find out more info. But back to my husband, of many talents, has started a new experience of designing and making HorseShoe Art. So he has added a page of his work on the website as well.
